ESC's Public Art Panel is holding a presentation by the public art specialists Safle on Monday, 20 October as part of a piece of work to engage the community with public art in the Island.
The Planning and Environment Department's adoption of a percentage for art policy has increased resources for public art in the Island, building on some of the past successes of the Jersey Public Sculpture Trust. The panel is commissioning guidance to assist in the development of new projects which connects with the Planning and Environment Department's supplementary planning guidance on percentage for art.
Meetings have already taken place with a number of stakeholders, including a group of local artists and representatives of arts organisations, in a bid to ensure that the work takes account of Jersey's unique identity and the involvement of the local cultural community. Safle will be liaising closely with the panel which comprises representatives of the Jersey Public Sculpture Trust, Jersey Arts Centre, Jersey Arts Trust and Jersey Heritage Trust.
Anyone interested in the work is invited to the Maria Ritchie Room at the Jersey Arts Centre on Monday 20 October at 6 pm, or to make contact direct with Safle by email: zoe.king@safle.com
